Interporto Marche multi-modal transport.
Multimodal transport means a shipment and delivery strategy that involves the use of two or more different modes of transportation. A strategy of this type may involve a combination of methods that includes the use of various shipment options that fall into the broad categories of air, sea, rail, and road transportation primarily through the use of containers. Containers will ensure the transport of unitized cargo from its origin to its final destination – generally over long distance – with efficiency and least possible risk.
As long as the least of two of these modes of transportation are used, the movement can be considered multimodal in nature.
The building of Interporto Marche infrastructure was thought out with the aim to serve the community with multimodal transport facilities.
Further to this, multimodal transport benefits are:
- Reduction of time loss at trans-shipment points
- faster transit of goods and relevant city logistics
- Reduction of documentation and formalities burden
- Cost saving
- Reduction of environment pollution and local traffic congestion.
